Nigeria’s Falconets produced a stunning attacking display on Sunday, September 13, defeating New Caledonia 10-1 in their final Group F fixture at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The emphatic victory provided a much-needed response from the Nigerian youngsters, who entered the encounter under significant pressure after collecting just one point from their opening two matches.
The Falconets began the tournament with a 2-0 defeat to Spain before playing out a goalless draw against China. With qualification for the knockout stage hanging in the balance, head coach Moses Aduku’s side knew they needed a strong performance against New Caledonia.
Nigeria responded in spectacular fashion, overwhelming the debutants with an attacking performance that underlined the gulf in experience between both sides.

The emphatic win was particularly significant given the pressure surrounding Nigeria before kick-off.
