Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has opened up about the personal reason behind his reduced presence in the music scene this year.
The singer revealed that the death of his mother earlier in 2026 was the reason he stepped away from his regular music activities.
Kizz Daniel, also known as Vado D’Great, made the revelation while responding to a fan who had suggested that his absence could be connected to preparations for a new album.
The singer clarified that his temporary withdrawal had nothing to do with an upcoming album but was instead prompted by the loss of his mother.
Kizz Daniel explains his absence
In his response to the fan on X, Kizz Daniel said he had deliberately taken time away from music following his mother’s death.
He explained that although the loss had been difficult, he had decided to continue with his responsibilities and remain strong for his family.
The singer also apologised to his supporters for his late return to the music scene in 2026.
His comments provided an explanation for what some fans had perceived as an unusually quiet period in his career.
The disclosure also prompted an outpouring of sympathy from fans, who responded to his post with messages of condolence, prayers and encouragement for the singer and his family.
Fans had expected new music
Before Kizz Daniel explained the situation, some followers had speculated that his absence was connected to a new album or another major music project.
However, his response showed that his priorities had been shaped by a personal loss rather than a professional commitment.
The singer has maintained a relatively private approach to his family life, making his latest revelation particularly significant to fans who have followed his career.
His decision to take time away from work also highlights the personal challenges that can affect artists away from the public stage.
Kizz Daniel has experienced previous losses
The singer’s latest loss comes after several difficult experiences involving members of his family.
Kizz Daniel lost his father in 2015. In 2021, he also suffered the loss of one of his triplets shortly after their birth.
He has previously spoken about how grief and personal experiences have influenced aspects of his life and music.
In 2025, the singer also discussed the death of his wife’s mother in 2024 while explaining the personal experiences that inspired his song, “Al-Jannah.”
Singer vows to keep moving
Despite the pain associated with losing his mother, Kizz Daniel indicated that he intends to continue moving forward, particularly for the sake of his family.
His comments suggest that his return to music is taking place while he continues to deal with the loss privately.
The singer’s message has since drawn supportive reactions from fans, many of whom urged him to remain strong and offered prayers for his late mother.
Kizz Daniel remains one of Nigeria’s prominent Afrobeats performers, with popular songs including “Woju” and “Buga.” His latest disclosure gives fans more context about his absence and why his musical activities have been slower than some expected this year.
For now, the singer appears focused on balancing his personal responsibilities with his career as he gradually returns to the spotlight.
