The Oyo State Government has made public the outcome of the 2026 placement screening exercise for pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary Schools across the state.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade. The development brings clarity for thousands of primary school pupils, parents, teachers and school administrators preparing for the next stage of the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to the statement, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, has directed head teachers and other concerned education officials to begin the process of obtaining the results for their pupils.
Olayiwola instructed school heads and relevant stakeholders to work with Local Inspectors of Education in their various local government areas. Through this arrangement, schools are expected to collect and communicate the placement results to the affected pupils and their families.
The state government said the release of the results represents a major step in its efforts to manage the movement of pupils from primary school into junior secondary education in an orderly manner. It noted that a properly coordinated placement system is important in helping learners begin the next phase of their schooling without unnecessary delays or confusion.
Education authorities in the state believe that the screening and placement exercise will support a more transparent admission process across public junior secondary schools. The process is also expected to ensure that pupils are appropriately placed as they progress from the basic primary level into Junior Secondary School One.
Olayiwola described the release of the results as evidence of the government’s determination to maintain a placement arrangement that is fair, credible and effective. He said the administration remains committed to creating an education system where pupils are given equal opportunities to continue their learning journey.
The commissioner added that transparency and efficiency remain key considerations in the state’s education policies, especially in matters affecting admission and school placement. By making the results available through recognised education channels, the government hopes to ensure that schools and parents can access the information in a structured and reliable way.
He congratulated all pupils who were successful in the screening exercise and urged them to see their admission into junior secondary school as an opportunity to take their education more seriously. He reminded them that advancement into JSS One comes with new academic responsibilities and greater expectations.
According to him, pupils should remain attentive to their studies and maintain a strong commitment to learning as they begin the 2026/2027 school year. He encouraged them to approach the new environment with discipline, determination and a positive attitude.
The commissioner stressed that success at the junior secondary level will depend largely on the willingness of pupils to stay focused, attend classes regularly and make effective use of the opportunities available to them. He said hard work and good conduct would play an important role in shaping their future academic performance.
Parents and guardians were also encouraged to continue supporting their children as they move into the new stage of schooling. Their guidance, attention and encouragement, the government noted, can help pupils settle quickly into their new classes and develop the confidence needed to succeed.
With the results now released, affected schools are expected to contact the appropriate Local Inspectors of Education for further details and collection procedures. The state government expressed optimism that the transition process would proceed smoothly and provide successful candidates with a solid beginning in junior secondary education.
