Popular Nigerian musician Dapo Oyebanjo, better known as D’Banj, has donated three newly acquired Sienna buses to Osun State lawyer and politician Pelumi Olajengbesi, who is preparing to contest for the Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 elections.
The vehicles were presented to Olajengbesi in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Thursday, according to an account shared by the politician on social media.
Olajengbesi described the gesture as an unexpected show of support from the award-winning entertainer as he continues his political activities ahead of the 2027 election.
Olajengbesi Says Donation Came as a Surprise
Recounting how the vehicles came about, Olajengbesi said D’Banj contacted him roughly two weeks before the presentation.
According to the politician, the singer asked for the contact details of the person handling the branding of his campaign materials.
Olajengbesi said he initially assumed the request was connected to D’Banj’s CREAM initiative, a platform associated with supporting and promoting young creative talents.
He subsequently provided the requested contact information without suspecting that the information would be used for his own political campaign.
The politician said he was therefore surprised when three Sienna buses, already branded for his political activities, were delivered to him.
Olajengbesi quoted D’Banj as describing the vehicles as his “token of support.”
Three Sienna Buses Presented for Campaign Activities
The vehicles are expected to support Olajengbesi’s campaign and grassroots mobilisation efforts as he seeks the federal constituency seat.
The donation adds a notable celebrity dimension to his political campaign, with D’Banj becoming the latest high-profile entertainer to publicly associate himself with the politician.
Olajengbesi expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a significant contribution to his political journey.
The presentation took place in Osogbo as political activities surrounding the 2027 elections continue to build across the country.
Davido Had Previously Supported Olajengbesi
D’Banj is not the first major Nigerian music star to publicly support Olajengbesi’s political ambition.
Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, had earlier endorsed the politician’s bid for the Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency.
The latest donation by D’Banj consequently adds to the growing public profile surrounding Olajengbesi’s campaign.
The involvement of prominent entertainers also highlights the increasing intersection between Nigeria’s entertainment industry and political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
Olajengbesi’s Political Background
Olajengbesi is a lawyer and politician from Osun State who has previously sought elective office.
He contested the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the 2019 election and has remained active in the state’s political space.
He also served as a spokesperson for the campaign seeking the re-election of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
In addition, Olajengbesi is the convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network, an organisation involved in political mobilisation in Osun State.
2027 Politics and Celebrity Involvement
The development comes as political actors across Nigeria increasingly prepare for the 2027 general elections.
Celebrities and entertainers have historically played visible roles in Nigerian election campaigns, ranging from performing at political rallies to publicly declaring support for candidates and political movements.
Recent political activity has also featured campaign-related vehicles and other forms of mobilisation, reflecting the growing importance of publicity and grassroots outreach in election preparations.
However, public support from celebrities does not itself determine electoral outcomes, which will ultimately depend on the formal electoral process and voters.
Campaign Activity Builds in Osun
Olajengbesi’s latest campaign development comes shortly after the 2026 Osun governorship election, in which he was involved as a campaign spokesman for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
With the 2027 federal legislative elections approaching, attention is expected to increase around prospective candidates and their mobilisation strategies.
For Olajengbesi, the three vehicles donated by D’Banj represent an additional resource for his campaign operations.
The politician has publicly welcomed the gesture, while the singer’s contribution has generated interest because of his profile within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
For now, Olajengbesi remains focused on his bid to represent the Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency, with the donated buses expected to form part of his campaign activities as the 2027 political season develops.
