A message shared by late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo after meeting Nigerian preacher Apostle Joshua Selman has resurfaced online following Chivayo’s death in a helicopter crash.
Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, died in the helicopter accident in Zimbabwe on September 30, 2026, alongside other occupants. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The businessman had posted about his encounter with Selman only days before the tragedy, after attending the House of Treasures Church Conference.
Chivayo reflects on meeting Apostle Selman
In the social media post, Chivayo described meeting Selman as a significant and memorable experience.
He praised the Nigerian preacher’s teachings, wisdom and interpretation of the Bible, saying the encounter had given him an opportunity to reflect on his own life and ambitions.
Chivayo said his meeting with Selman reminded him that personal achievements do not mean there is nothing more to learn.
The businessman also expressed gratitude to Apostle Felix Okoh, whose church hosted the conference where the encounter took place.
Business ambitions and faith
Chivayo’s message also touched on his long-term plans in business.
He spoke about his ambition to become a multi-billionaire while developing businesses across Africa and other parts of the world.
However, he acknowledged that financial resources and personal ability alone would not be enough to achieve the future he envisioned.
The businessman said he believed spiritual guidance was equally important and called for prayers concerning his life, family and business interests.
He specifically sought prayers for wisdom, protection, favour and divine direction, saying he wanted to remain dependent on God despite his material achievements.
Message attracts fresh attention
The post has gained renewed attention because of its proximity to the fatal helicopter accident.
Chivayo published the message after meeting Selman on September 26, only four days before the crash. Reports indicate that the businessman and his wife had attended the church gathering in South Africa during their trip.
The timing has prompted widespread discussion online, with social media users revisiting Chivayo’s comments about prayer and divine protection.
However, there is no evidence that Chivayo had any knowledge that a helicopter accident was imminent. The resurfacing of his message is largely connected to the timing of the post and the subsequent tragedy.
Couple had attended church service
Chivayo and his wife were also reportedly among worshippers who responded during an altar call led by Apostle Selman at the church gathering.
Footage from the service showed the couple participating alongside other attendees during the prayer session.
The development has added another layer of public interest to the final days of the businessman and his wife, whose deaths have generated widespread reactions in Zimbabwe and beyond.
Investigation into crash continues
The helicopter crash remains under investigation as authorities work to establish what caused the aircraft to go down.
Reports have indicated that the aircraft encountered difficult weather conditions before communication was lost. A security aide travelling in another helicopter later recounted radio exchanges involving the pilot and described concerns about flying through cloud cover.
As investigations continue, Chivayo’s earlier message to Selman has become one of the final public reflections associated with the businessman before his death.
For many who have revisited the post, its emphasis on faith, prayer and the uncertainty of life has taken on particular significance following the tragedy.
