PlayStation 5 owners will soon have another action-packed title to add to their gaming libraries, as Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is set to make its console debut on PS5 on October 7, 2026.
Publisher Ghost Ship Publishing and developer Funday Games confirmed the upcoming PlayStation release alongside ports for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The game has already built an audience across PC, Xbox and mobile platforms, and its arrival on PS5 will give console players another opportunity to experience its fast-paced, single-player survival-action formula.
A new take on Deep Rock Galactic
Rather than following the traditional multiplayer-focused formula associated with Deep Rock Galactic, Survivor takes the franchise into the survivor-like auto-shooter genre.
Players control a lone dwarf exploring the dangerous caves of Planet Hoxxes. Instead of manually aiming every weapon, the character automatically attacks enemies while the player focuses on movement, positioning, mining and choosing upgrades.
The result is a gameplay style built around surviving increasingly difficult waves of alien creatures while becoming more powerful during each run. The PlayStation Store describes the game as a single-player experience featuring procedurally generated caves and enemy waves.
PS5 release date confirmed
The PS5 version of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is officially scheduled to launch on October 7, 2026.
The PlayStation Store lists the game as a PS5 title and confirms support for vibration through the DualSense wireless controller. It is designed for one player and includes optional in-game purchases.
The game will also arrive on Nintendo’s platforms around the same period, expanding its availability beyond the PC, Xbox and mobile versions.
What players can expect
The central objective is straightforward: survive.
Players enter the caves of Hoxxes, battle large groups of hostile creatures, collect resources and improve their equipment. As each run progresses, enemies become more challenging, forcing players to make strategic decisions about which upgrades and weapons to use.
Mining also plays an important role. Resources gathered during missions can help strengthen the character, while the procedurally generated environments ensure that individual runs do not simply follow an identical path.
The game therefore combines the rapid action of an auto-shooter with exploration and progression mechanics.
A different perspective on the franchise
One of the biggest changes for fans of the original Deep Rock Galactic is the camera perspective.
Survivor uses a top-down viewpoint, allowing players to see their dwarf and surrounding enemies from above. This perspective is particularly suited to the game’s large enemy encounters, where positioning and movement can be just as important as weapon selection.
The format also makes the game accessible to newcomers who may not have played the main Deep Rock Galactic experience.
From PC launch to PlayStation
The game originally entered Early Access on PC in February 2024 before receiving its full release across PC and Xbox Series platforms in September 2025. It subsequently expanded to mobile devices before the announcement of its PlayStation and Nintendo versions.
Its move to PS5 represents another step in the game’s expansion, bringing the survivor-like formula to a larger console audience.
New expansion also announced
Alongside the console announcement, Ghost Ship Publishing and Funday Games revealed a new expansion called Knockout.
The upcoming expansion is expected to introduce additional content, including a new Brawler class, a Sandblasted Corridors environment and a challenging mission featuring new objectives and a boss encounter.
However, a release date for the Knockout expansion has not yet been announced.
This means PS5 players will initially be able to experience the base game, while additional content is planned for the future.
Why PS5 players should keep an eye on it
The combination of automated shooting, mining, procedural environments and character progression gives Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor a distinct identity within the survivor-like genre.
Its single-player focus also makes it different from the cooperative experience many players associate with the wider Deep Rock Galactic franchise.
For gamers who enjoy titles built around short, increasingly difficult runs and constant character upgrades, the PS5 release could be an appealing addition to the October gaming calendar.
With the launch set for October 7, PlayStation 5 players will not have to wait much longer before heading into the dangerous caves of Hoxxes.
